Dennis, excellent analysis, as always. Thank you.You are so correct that the players with two handed backhand are “forces” to turn their hips and shoulders; which is very important for both the single handed and two handed players. I hit a single handed backhand (when I was learning tennis almost nobody used two handed backhand – shows my age :)). I tried to change to a two handed backhand a few years ago but could not. The muscle memory is so “good/bad” that I was even missing the ball :). But the mental technique I use is, when preparing to hit the backhand, I imagine that I will be hitting the ball using a two handed grip. Which forces me to turn my hips and shoulders. Then, at the last moment, I let the left hand off the racquet and move it back (a la Federer). And it helps me.
